Roman Kantsir

Roman Kantsir is a cinematographer and director of photography working between Bucharest and Chișinău. He has more than 20 years of experience in film, advertising, television and commercial production.

His background is deliberately hybrid: equally at home on cinematic productions, commercials, corporate films, interviews and events. He brings extensive experience with professional lighting, camera operation, two-camera setups and cinematic B-roll — working independently or leading a small crew when required.

On set he is calm and solution-oriented, and equally comfortable working under pressure and in fast-changing production environments — a combination that matters most when working directly with executives, clients and international production teams.

His film work includes four feature films, two series, two TV films and six short films made between 2017 and 2024, with a competition selection at the Moscow International Film Festival (I am DORIN, 2020) and two Nika Award nominations. On the commercial side he has lensed 25+ campaigns for brands including Orange, MAIB, Linella, Victoriabank, JTI and ULTRA, across Romania and Moldova.

He also works as a commercial photographer — portrait, business and corporate, editorial, events and reportage — from the same base in Bucharest and Chișinău.
